Gowda gives Rs. 38,400 to PM fund

NEW DELHI: The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president, H.D. Deve Gowda, has contributed 20 per cent of his one-year salary as MP to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to tackle “severe drought and flood situation in certain parts of the country.”

Mr. Gowda, who represents Hassan (Karnataka), in a letter sent to Dr. Manmohan Singh with a demand draft for Rs. 38, 400, said he wanted to extend full support to the austerity measures adopted by the government.
