MPEDA advisory for shrimp farmers

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The Karwar-based office of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has urged shrimp farmers to avoid the use of banned antibiotics and herbicides containing Pendimethalim.

Shrimp and scampi farmers are facing challenges owing to quality issues and the mandatory requirement of screening certificate of the produce from the importing countries.

In order to tackle the problems, MPEDA has established laboratories in other maritime States.
