Veteran journalist G.S. Bhargava dead

HYDERABAD: G. S. Bhargava (84), veteran journalist who worked with The Tribune, Hindustan Times and Indian Express passed away in New Delhi on Tuesday. He was ailing for some time. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Bhargava started his career in Forum magazine in the pre-independence era and reported from Pakistan for the Hindustan Times during 1961-62. In Indian Express, he held the post of Resident Editor, Hyderabad edition, during the 1980s when there was political turmoil in Andhra Pradesh.

He was Principal Information Officer when the Janata Government was in power in New Delhi from 1978 to 1980. He wrote several books, including ‘Pakistan in Crisis’, ‘Star Cross India—Let down by Leadership’ and ‘Perestroika in India – V. P. Singh’s Prime Ministership’. D. Amar, Chairman, AP Press Academy, in a message here condoled his death.
