ALAPPUZHA: The Special Investigation Team probing the Paul Muthoot George murder case, on Wednesday, moved the court to conduct a polygraph test on Om Prakash and S. Rajesh, the 15th and 16th accused in the case. The team submitted a petition to this effect in the Ramankary Judicial First Class Magistrate court, pointing out that a polygraph test was necessary since it was yet to be clear how Prakash and Rajesh, both known offenders even prior to the Muthoot murder case, were involved in the killing of Paul. Magistrate Subitha Chirakkal has posted the hearing to Friday. 10-day custody soughtEarlier, the SIT produced before the court Abby and Sulfi, also accused in the case and whose arrests were recorded late on Tuesday night. The two were remanded in police custody till September 26. The SIT requested police custody of the two for 10 days, pointing out the duo had to be taken to Coimbatore and Salem, where they had stayed for a few days after fleeing from Alappuzha following the murder. The two had also destroyed their mobile phone SIM cards. Enquiries into their call details too were necessary. However, only three days’ custody was allowed. Abby was listed as accused in the case after it came to light that he had hired the gang, led by Jayachandran, which had an altercation with Paul resulting in his killing on August 22 near the Jyothi Junction on the Alappuzha-Changanassery Road.
