Ordinance to punish stalkers soon in A.P.

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Two ordinances will be promulgated soon by the Andhra Pradesh government to amend relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code to award severe punishment to acid-attackers and stalkers in terms of jail-term and fine to serve as a deterrent.

Home Minister P. Sabitha Reddy told reporters here on Friday that the draft ordinances were being forwarded to Governor N. D. Tiwari for his consent. She said the enactments would be referred to the Union government for its consent as the IPC was within the Central purview.

She said the changes being made to the sections of IPC would also make the process of prosecution easier.
