Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry: Government Arts College (Autonomous) Protection Committee with planning and development board of the college, all political parties, student organisations, Rajahmundry Bar Association, Elite Citizens Forum of Rajahmundry was formed on Saturday. The committee elected businessman Tummidi Ramkumar convener at a round table conference held at Anam Rotary Hall. The conference adopted five important resolutions copies of which were sent to the Governor, who is also Chancellor of Nannaya University, the Chief Minister, the Minister of Higher Education, the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner of Higher Education and the Secretary for Higher Education. The conference in a resolution demanded withdrawal of G.O.136 which enables Nannayya University to manage and control Government Arts College (Autonomous). It also decided to start construction of buildings in the site allocated to the university and not to conduct any more classes of university on Arts College premises. It is also decided to fight against the G.O. under the protection committee. The conference witnessed heated discussions on the G.O.136 and its repercussions. Along with Tummidi Ramkumar, Meesala Satyanarayana, CPI secretary, Dharwada Ramakrishna, BJP, Muppalla Subba Rao, State Secretary-General, Human Rights Council, Chitrapu Guru Raja Rao, Dr. B.V.S Murthy, Mylavarapu Sambasivarao, Phani Nageswara Rao, Pattapagalu Venkatrao, Gubbala Rambabu, Polina Venkateswara Rao, Adireddy Appa Rao, M. Ramakrishna (PDSU) and others participated.
