Arogyasri: hospitals not reimbursed

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Cardiologists of the corporate sector have expressed a view that Arogyasri programme was not profitable to their hospitals in heart surgeries.

Addressing a meeting organised by the State branch of Cardiological Society of India on the eve of World Heart Day on Sunday, they said corporate hospitals were not getting reimbursed by the government for heart procedures.

The branch president and head of clinical research department of CARE Hospitals A. Sreenivas Kumar said the World Heart Day was being celebrated this year with “workplace wellness” as the theme. Ramesh Babu, chief of cardiology at Medwin Hospital, said 80 per cent of heart strokes could be prevented by quitting smoking, regular exercise and healthy diet.
