On Neutrino Observatory
Special Correspondent
Udhagamandalam: The stand of the State Government on the proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory at Singara near the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve has not changed, said the Secretary, Environment and Forests, Debendranath Sarangi while speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the 56th annual conference of the Planters Association of Tamil Nadu in Coonoor on Saturday.
Stating that permission has not been given to the promoters of the project, he said that they have already been told that many environmental issues need to be looked into.
When asked about the lobbying that was going on in favour of the project, he said that of late no one had approached the Government. He added that there was a ban on quarrying in the Nilgiris district.
