Children initiated into learning

Ceremony held at temples, schools and cultural centres

PATHANAMTHITTA: Vijayadasami was celebrated with fervour in Pathanamthitta on Monday.

Special pujas were performed at temples as well as navaratri mandapams, schools and cultural centres as part of the Vidyarambhom ceremony held as part of the celebrations.

Hundreds of tiny tots were initiated into the world of learning at the Vidyarambhom ceremonies held at different parts of the district.

Ezhacherry Ramachandran, Fr. Mathew Daniel, former Principal of Kozhenchery St. Thomas College, and V.K. Narayanan, litterateur, led the Vidyarambhom ceremony at the Muloor S.Padmanabha Panicker Memorial at Elavumthitta.

Kavyapuja, an assemblage of poets, was held at the Muloor Memorial as part of the Vidyarambhom celebrations.

Poets Ezahacherry Ramachandran, V.K.Narayanan, Sreebhavanam Gopalakrishnan, Konniyoor Radhakrishnan, Konniyoor Balachandran, Vazhamuttom Mohanan, Malayalappuzha Sudhan, Parakode Prathapan, K.P.Krishnankutty, Sarasan Karithotta, Thirumoolapuram Narayanan, Premjitlal, Kairali Prasad, Kaviyur Rajashekharan, Suresh Gangadharan and Soumya took part in the Kavyapuja.

Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostum, senior Metropolitan of Mar Thoma Church, led the Vidyarambhom ceremony at Mar Thoma Lower Primary School at Chirayirambu.

Initiation of foreign students into the world of classical dance forms and music was a unique programme held at the Chilanka Akademi for Dance and Music at Aranmula.

Kathakali artiste FACT Mohan and his wife, Kalamandalam Sreedevi Mohan, led the ceremony.

Chief priest Radharkishnan Namboodiri and administrator Manikkuttan Namboodiri led the ceremony held at Chakkulathukavu Bhagavathy Temple at Neerettupuram.

Children were initiated into the world of letters also at Kannassapparambu at Niranam, Navaratri Mantapam at Pandalam, Sree Ramakrishna Ashram at Thiruvalla, Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Thukalasserry, Thiruvalla Sreevallabha Temple, Kavyasilpa Samuchayam at Kadammanitta, Malayalappuzha Bhagavathy Temple, Orippurathu Bhagavathy Temple at Thatta, Tirumalida Temple, Kallooppara Bhagavathy Temple and Kaviyur Mahadevar Temple.
