Three buses organised to take them around

They visit the Chamundi Hills and Mysore Palace

MYSORE: Elderly people and poor children got a feel of Dasara festivities here on Friday when they were taken around the city in three air-conditioned Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses.

They were shown various venues where the celebrations are being held, apart from places of tourist interest.

With support from the district administration, the Department of Women and Child Development, in association with the KSRTC, gave the “tourists” an opportunity to take part in the festivities. As many as 120 children from Bapuji Home for Children, Juvenile Home for Boys and Girls, Observation Home for Boys and 65 elderly people from JSS Home for the Aged were taken to places such as the Chamundi Hills and the Mysore Palace.

In addition, they were taken to the venues of cultural programmes and the Dasara flower show. The Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, Vijay, told The Hindu that children with disabilities were among those taken around the city.

After taking them around the city, they were dropped back at their respective institutions in the evening, Mr. Vijay said.
