Promoting industries with incentives
The Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation Limited (PIPDIC), a Government of Pudhucherry Undertaking, aims at providing industrial finance, developing industrial estates and equity participation through aiding, counselling, protecting and promoting the interests of industries in Puducherry.
Apart from providing infrastructural facilities, PIPDIC also provides assistance to industrial units and artisans, to take off. They offer full exemption from Income Tax, Excise Duty and Sales Tax for 100 per cent export oriented units. The incentives for Small Scale Industries include power supply at lower rates and 50 per cent of the cost of pollution control machinery and equipment with a ceiling of Rs.5.00 lakh per unit.For Medium and Large scale industries, PIPDIC offers 25 per cent of the cost of pollution control machinery and equipment with ceiling of Rs.5.00 lakh per unit.
As far as IT related industries are concerned, Sales Tax exemption is offered for a period of 10 years, Capital Subsidy of 20 per cent, subsidy on leased line rental of 50 per cent, rate of interest 0.5 per cent less, and tax on land and building is exempted and stamp duty on loans given by PIPDIC is exempted.
