BJP defends session

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday defended the three-day “Sahachintan Baithak” organised for Ministers in the Yeddyurappa Government at Suttur Math in Mysore, saying the session would help them function effectively and implement the programmes in a time-bound manner.

BJP spokesman C.T. Ravi, MLA, told presspersons here that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s lecture on administration on Tuesday would help Ministers learn the skills in governance.

The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi, had appreciated the development works taken up by the Gujarat Government, he said. The Janata Dal (S) and Congress leaders had criticised Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa for inviting Mr. Modi to tutor Ministers on administration.

He said the Congress and JD (S) had been misleading the people by levelling baseless allegations. To a question on Datta Jayanti celebrations at Datta Peetha in Chikmagalur district, Mr. Ravi said they would be held from November 21 to December 1.
