Corrections and clarifications

The fourth paragraph in a report “Moily refuses to comment on Justice Dinakaran issue” (September 27, 2009) was “Mr. Moily said important matters such as appointment of judges could not be discussed publicly, adding that the reputation India’s judicial system enjoyed the world over would not be protected.” It was an editing error. It should have read “... The reputation India’s judicial system enjoys the world over will be protected, he said.”

A late correction. A sentence in the fifth paragraph of an article “Humour and heresy” (Op-Ed, September 22, 2009) was “For that reason one can also sympathise with the indignation that Prithviraj Chauhan and Ashok Gehlot, representing contrary poles of the political spectrum, feel on this count.” Prithviraj Chauhan is a historical figure. It should have been Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. (Mr. Gehlot is the Rajasthan Chief Minister.)
