Manmohan to be guest of honour at Obama’s dinner

Washington: The honour of being the guest at the first state dinner hosted by United States President Barack Obama would go to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and it will be held during his visit, scheduled for November 24.

Dr. Singh was the first State Guest of the Bush administration during its second term.

The honour is apparently in recognition of the importance of India as an emerging world power as well as New Delhi being perceived as a new close and stable ally by the U.S., informed sources said. — PTI
