Manipal: Chairperson of Hostel Advisory Committee of Manipal University Vasanthi R. Pai flagged off the World Heart Day walk organised by Kasturba Hospital here recently. The walk was aimed at creating awareness about reducing stress and importance of doing regular exercise. At a workshop on “Cardiac efficiency through Yoga” held on Sunday, the Head of the Department of Yoga at Kasturba Hospital, Vighneshwara Marathe, said a change in lifestyle was required to reduce stress and this in turn improved the quality of life. Proper food habits helped check the cholesterol level, he said. Ganapathi Joisa of Department of Yoga said that relaxation techniques in yoga helped bring down high blood pressure, anxiety, stress and improved cardiovascular circulation. Earlier, Ms. Pai inaugurated the Patient Park and unveiled the statue of Lord Dhanwantri in the hospital premises. Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal was present. After the unveiling, Ms. Pai and Indira Ballal, wife of Dr. H.S. Ballal, planted saplings.
