TIRUCHI: The Department of Business Administration of the Holy Cross College will conduct an international conference on ‘Cross Cultural Management’ here on October 6 and 7.

As a concept and as a reality, culture is broad and multifaceted. Culture influences the individuals, families, communities, professionals, industries, nations, etc., and provides a sense of identity and belonging.

The workforce of the 21st century is increasingly diverse and multicultural. To effectively manage and lead in this environment, individuals must possess cross cultural skills, both in the domestic and global fronts.

The main objective of the international seminar is to show that interpersonal relationships and communication are inseparable. Mastering these skills is the essential requirement for self-directed, cross-functional and global teams. It provides a common platform for the academia and the business concerns to come together and confer on the self assessment, communication, intelligence, relationship and management, according to a press release of college Principal and convener of the seminar organising committee Sr. Sarguna.

The objectives are to redefine the cross cultural management and elevate it from its present broader business goals, to encourage the business concerns to develop such skills, to acquire skills necessary to communicate effectively and to enhance the quality of diverse professional relationships through valuing and respecting differences.

The two-day seminar will provide the opportunity for fundamental change to occur which can be immediately applied to workplace situation involving diversity, Sr. Sarguna added.

Experts will present papers on topics of cross cultural training, leadership, HRM, negotiations, diversity, perspective, time management, etc.
