Czech Republic too good for India

NEW DELHI: Czech Republic proved too hot for India in the opening match of group ‘D’ in the World group Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament at San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on Tuesday.

India was scheduled to play US in the second match of the group. Defending champion US warmed up with a 3-0 victory over Chile.

The top two teams from each of the four groups will make it to the quarterfinals.

The results: Czech Republic bt India 3-0 (Jiri Vesely bt Mohit Mayur 6-2, 6-3; Robert Rumler bt Saurabh Singh 6-2, 6-3; Lukas Vrnak and Jiri Vesely bt Saurabh Singh and Sai Kartik 6-3, 6-4).
