Botcha urges partymen to make door-to-door visit

Rs. 1200 cr. sanctioned for rural roads, he says

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Panchayat Raj Botcha Satyanarayana has appealed to Congress cadres to enrol eligible voters in the district in the party. He was speaking at the launching of membership drive of the party at the DCC Office here on Friday evening.

He said the Congress came back to power in 2004 due to membership enrolment drive taken up sincerely in the past. He asked the party men and constituency in-charges to visit door-to-door instead of sitting at the mandal party office for enrolment. He put the target at not less than two lakh members in the district.

With regard to NREGP, the Minister said the government had sanctioned Rs. 1,200 crores for laying rural roads under the employment guarantee programme.

He criticised the Opposition parties, particularly the TDP, for making it an issue to meet its political ends. He urged party men to conduct gram sabhas and identify works.

The Minister was the first to enrol as a member of the party. DCC president K. Veerabhadra Swamy and others were present.
