‘Revive panel on anti-corruption’

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The National Federation of Indian Women has regretted that State government is not serious in eradicating corruption and urged the Government to revive the high-level committee on anti-corruption which was abolished in 2007.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Karnataka unit president J.N. Jayashree said that the top-level officials in the government should declare their assets to maintain transparency. “The Chief Secretary himself should declare assets first and should become a model for other IAS officers,” she said.

She said that federation would submit a memorandum to Chief Secretary S.V. Ranganath urging him to take steps to curb corruption.

“If no action is taken, we will intensify our agitation in the coming days by holding dharnas in front of the residences of the corrupt officials,” Ms. Jayashree said.
