Corrections and clarifications

In the daily “Weather” column, that appears with the INSAT photograph, the paragraph at the end of the temperature readings (October 2, 2009) was “The columns show maximum and minimum temperature in Celsius, rainfall during last 24 hours (trace) and total rainfall in mm since June 1, 2009”. It should have read as “… since October 1, 2009”.

Mr. Veerapandi S. Arumugam is the Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister. A report “SAP more than MSP for cane” (Some Tamil Nadu editions October 2, 2009, page 5) said he is the Food Minister. (His other portfolios are Agricultural Engineering, Agro Service Cooperatives, Horticulture, Sugarcane Cess, Sugarcane Development and Waste Land Development. Mr. A.V. Velu is the Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection and Price Control Minister.)
