Hundreds take out peace march

MANGALORE: A rally for peace and religious harmony was taken out from PVS Circle to Lalbagh to mark the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations here on Friday.

Members of Rotaract Club of Mangalore City, volunteers of National Service Scheme of Mangalore University, officials of Mangalore City Corporation, and teachers and students of a few schools, participated in it.

Mayor M. Shankar Bhat garlanded the bust of Mahatma Gandhiji at Lalbagh after the march concluded there.

Later, at a function organised in the office of the city corporation, Mr. Bhat called upon the people to followthe principles preached and practised by Gandhiji. “Gandhigiri is as strong as goondagiri,” the Mayor said.
