VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) on Sunday expressed serious concern over digging being done by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority at the Buddhist site of Thotlakonda. In a letter to VUDA Vice-Chairman V.N. Vishnu, INTACH district convener Rani Sarma said she was pained and distressed to see the Divisional Forest Officer of VUDA deploying labour to dig up the slopes of Thotlakonda with earthmovers and disturbing the archaeological site of immense value, in the name of planting trees. She also reminded about a letter dated August 26 sent by her on the damage being caused to Thotlakonda.
