Residents oppose land encroachment

KOLAR: Residents of Jangamabasapur village under Harati gram panchayat in Kolar taluk have criticised the zilla panchayat authorities for allegedly not implementing the orders of the Secretary of Panchayat Raj Department in connection with the eviction of encroached government land.

Some influential persons in the village have encroached government land and put a fence around it causing inconvenience to the villagers, the residents alleged. Following a petition by the villagers, K.R. Shashidhar, Secretary, Panchayat Raj, had ordered the zilla panchayat officials to take action to evict the encroached land.
