3 militants killed in Manipur

IMPHAL: Three militants were killed and a police commando was injured in an encounter on Saturday night at Leimaram in Bishnupur district of Manipur.

An M-16 rifle, with some rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the site of the encounter.Police said on a tip-off, a combined team of police commandos of the district and 12 Maratha Light Infantry rushed to Leimaram. The militants opened fire at them, injuring one commando. The security forces retaliated and the encounter lasted for one hour. In another incident, police arrested a foreign trained militant of the KYKL (MDF) in Imphal.
