TTD to adopt a village in each flood-hit district

Announces help to Mantralayam temple, restoration of other temples
HYDERABAD: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s has proposed to adopt one village in each flood-affected district as part of long term restoration process. Disclosing this to reporters, TTD Executive Officer I.Y.R.Krishna Rao said they had already announced help to Mantralayam temple and for restoration of other flood-affected temples including Alampur temple in coordination with Endowment department. Apart from rushing relief material to flood victims, TTD was also lending its vehicles free of cost to organisations to transport relief material to affected districts.
Asked about petition challenging TTD efforts to seek Geographical Identification for the ‘Tirupati Laddu’ he said they were yet to get any notice.
He also clarified that ‘mudda pappu’ in menu served as part of ‘Annadanam’ at Tirumala was temporarily substituted with ‘sambar’ in view of difficulties in procurement of red gram in sufficient quantities.
