No stay on order against tipper lorries
Special Correspondent
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday refused to stay the order issued by the Inspector General of Police restricting the plying of tipper lorries and earthmovers in the State. Justice S. Siri Jagan declined the plea of the Kannur District Earth Moving Workers Federation when its petition came up for hearing.
The order of the IG stipulated that tipper lorries should not be allowed to ply between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The court orally asked the government pleader whether the law relating to the installation of speed governor was applicable to tipper lorries. It directed the pleader to inform about the enforcement of the law on speed governors.
