This Day That Age
Expert committees constituted by the University Grants Commission are now engaged in appraising the quality of higher education in each branch of study in universities. Dr. C.D. Deshmukh, Chairman of the Commission, who disclosed this to a representative of The Hindu in Madras on October 9 in an exclusive interview, said that these expert committees were going round some representative universities for this purpose and were at various stages of their investigation. After their report was received, Dr. Deshmukh said, seminars of teachers in the particular subjects concerned might be convened and the recommendations of the expert teams would be placed before the seminars for their opinion. Dr. Deshmuh said that no one could improve the university education without having the teachers wholeheartedly on their side.
