Woman, granddaughter die in road accident

Bangalore: A 55-year-old woman and her nine-year-old granddaughter died when a milk van hit their two-wheeler at the junction near BDA complex in Banashankari 2nd stage on Friday.

The police said Chandra (55) and her husband Venkataraman (65) were bringing their granddaughter Tejan from the Aurobindo School when the accident occurred. All the three fell when the milk van rammed the scooter. Chandra and Tejan died before they could reach the hospital.

The police have taken up a case against the driver of the van and have seized the vehicle.

Three held

The Central Crime Branch police arrested three more persons allegedly involved in illegal sale of arms in the city.

VJ arrested

The CCB arrested Nishchit Lalwani (23), a video jockey, on the charge of possessing and selling hashish and recovered 354 gm of the narcotic from him.

The police said Lalwani sold hashish at parties.
