Academic institutions told to address students’ needs

BANGALORE: “Students are the extended families: build a product portfolio to fulfil their needs and keep your services accessible.” This piece of advice was given to academic institutions by Elango, Chief Human Resource Officer, MphasiS India, while addressing the Industry Institute Partnership Summit 2009 organised by New Horizon Educational Institution here on Friday.

The meet’s theme was “Realignment of business strategies, integration, inclusion and innovation- an HR perspective.”

The aim behind the summit, which was inaugurated by the former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University R.M. Vasagam, was to bring leaders from the industry together and deliberate upon various issues to have a sustainable partnership.

Networking

He felt that networking industries and academia was a bridge-building exercise in which the curriculum was developed keeping industry standards into consideration.

Vishwanathan, Managing Director, John Fowler India, and R. Srinivasan, Managing Director, Helicopter Complex, HAL, addressed the inaugural session.
