Court upholds CBI’s opposition as probe was pending in foreign countries HYDERABAD: The bail application of former Satyam Computers chairman B. Ramalinga Raju was again rejected by a court on Friday. This was the sixth bail plea by Mr. Raju since his arrest on January 9. He is presently undergoing treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here after he suffered a heart attack on September 9. In his order, the Fourth Metropolitan Sessions Judge Easwara Rao upheld the opposition to bail by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the ground that investigation into Satyam fraud in foreign countries was pending. A separate court had issued letter rogatory for carrying out investigation in six countries. Mr. Raju had cited danger to his life if he remained in jail as he underwent angioplasty to two arterial blocks following a heart attack. He also suffered from hepatitis ‘C’ and hypertension. However, the prosecution argued in court that Mr. Raju did not acquire health problems overnight. He did not refer to them in his previous bail applications. The CBI also insisted that he should not be bailed out as a Division Bench of High Court was considering his revision petition against brain-mapping and polygraph tests on him as part of investigation.
