Three buildings demolished

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation on Friday demolished three buildings on Wall Tax Road. Officials said that the three pieces of land, measuring 520 sq ft each, belonged to the civic body and had been leased out. Though the lease had ended, the tenants refused to move. Following this, the Corporation issued show cause notice asking them to vacate the premises.

As they did not vacate even after a show cause notice, the Corporation demolished the buildings. A total of 50 staff and four lorries were used in the operation.
