Run for a green cause

‘Spirit of Wipro Run’ was simultaneously flagged-off across 10 cities

Bangalore: Wipro conducted the fourth edition of its “Spirit of Wipro Run”, an annual event to celebrate and share its values with its employees and their families, on Saturday.

The event witnessed a simultaneous flag-off across 10 cities, including Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Mumbai, Noida, Mysore and Amsterdam, and saw an overall participation from more than 7,000 Wipro employees and their family members.

The theme for this year’s run was “Fun, fitness and green”.

As a part of the Ecoeye charter, an attempt was made to make the event as green as possible. Some of the measures initiated included online registration for participants and avoiding the use of promotional posters to reduce the usage of paper.

The registration fee received from every participant would be utilised towards a green project by Wipro Cares. Also for every participant, a tree will be planted across Wipro’s campuses.

Pratik Kumar, executive vice-president (Human Resources), Wipro Limited, said, “This year’s ‘Spirit of Wipro Run’ is special as it focuses not just on fun and fitness but more importantly on green initiatives. Wipro strongly believes in building sustainability and it is ingrained in our values.”
