Centenary fete of Suri Bhagavantam

Tributes to be paid to the ‘great visionary, scientist and institution builder’

HYDERABAD: In a tribute to an illustrious “visionary, great scientist and institution builder”, centenary celebrations of the former Scientific Advisor to Minister of Defence and Director General of DRDO, Suri Bhagavantam will be held at Osmania University campus on Wednesday.

Current Scientific Advisor to Minister of Defence and Secretary of Department of Defence (Research and Development) V.K. Saraswat would deliver the first-ever centenary memorial lecture at Prof. G. Ramreddy Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University, announced Vice-Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao at a press conference on Monday.

During the nine-year tenure he headed the DRDO, Dr. Bhagavantam was instrumental in setting up a chain of laboratories for the development of missiles, aircraft, aero engines, combat vehicles like tanks, electronic warfare systems, high explosives and underwater weapons.
