Cracker of a suggestion on A(H1N1)

It was indeed a valuable tip for students participating in an interactive session on “Swine Flu” organised by FAPCCI here on Monday.

Principal Secretary (Health) L.V. Subramanyam, who was key speaker in the programme, dropped a hint for students that a question on swine flu might be asked in the forthcoming competitive examinations and the statistics would help students to write a 200 words article on the flu.

He listed out the number of H1N1 cases reported in the State till now along with number of positive cases and deaths. The Principal Secretary also suggested students to actively participate in sports to improve their body resistance. Hope these tips help students in keeping diseases at bay!

Many people pursue a dream career but destiny can land them in different professions. This is what exactly happened with Assembly Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Disclosing this at Youth Assembly programme, Mr. Reddy said he had never participated in any elocution competitions, debates nor any stage shows during his school days. “I was a very shy guy and never dreamt of becoming a politician or a public representative but today I am the Speaker of the Assembly. Perhaps this is what they call destiny,” he said sending the audience into splits.

Price of rice has been jacked up by the dealers within less than a week after the floods hit Kurnool. From Rs.33 a kilogram, it went upto Rs.36 to Rs.40 per kg. And the explanation being offered is that the paddy crop was hit very badly by the floods. However, with over three months remaining for the arrival of new crop, the question is how the floods have hit the stored rice. Rice millers and wholesalers around the city must have already hoarded up enough stocks to cater to the requirements of at least the next six months.
