AVANIGADDA: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s whirlwind tour of the flood-hit areas of Diviseema in Krishna district on Monday was marked by a large number of victims complaining about lack of relief and support from the government and the administration. Mr. Naidu visited affected places like Mopidevi ST Colony, Puligadda and a few other villages in Avanigadda area. He also visited interior island villages like Bobbarlanka and Dakshina Chiruvolulanka, which were some of the most affected places in Diviseema, with flood water running above 10 feet during the peak. Promises helpAs the poor families recounted their misery and horror following the flood fury, Mr. Naidu tried to console them by promising to provide support from the NTR Memorial Trust to each family. He asserted that it was because of the voluntary organisations and magnanimous individuals rather than the government that the victims could get whatever relief they were enjoying now. Contending that no precautionary measures were taken to prevent the flood, Mr. Naidu told the people that the government did not wake up to taking up relief works even after seeing thousands of families being rendered homeless and their houses becoming unfit to live for months to come. He repeatedly said that many women complained about nobody from the administration showing up to assure them of any help so far. At Bandikollalanka, Mr. Naidu told the people that the NTR Memorial Trust would send 10 kg of rice, half-a-kg each of edible oil and red gram, blankets, saris and other essential commodities so the flood victims.
