Most pathetic conditions in Alampur

N. Rahul

ALAMPUR (Mahbubnagar dt.): Ten days after floods ravaged this temple town, considered the fifth Sakthi peetham of the South, people are living in most unhygienic conditions.

Till a few days ago, the entire town was submerged in water, but now people are faced with the problem of slush. Sanitation workers are toiling overtime to clear the piled up slush, but conditions are not likely to improve for several days. The residents are just now shifting the heavier household articles for a wash in river Krishna by tractors. Their food and water requirements are taken care of by the government and voluntary organisations. They are wearing clothes dumped in bulk by donors.
