Write like Bapu and win prizes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Here is a chance for schoolchildren to emulate the ‘Father of the Nation’ and win prizes. The Department of Posts is conducting an all-India letter writing competition titled “Gandhiji writes a postcard” for students from classes third to eighth, a statement issued by the department said.

The competition will be held in two categories for students from third to fifth standard and for those from sixth to eighth standard. To take part in the competition, students must write a letter on a competition postcard either in English or Hindi.

Students can share their ideas on any current topic and emulate the ‘Father of the Nation’ by writing the letter in a way they think Gandhiji would have written.

The letter should be written on competition postcard of face value Rs.10 that will be made available in all post offices. The minimum word limit is 25. The letter should be written on the obverse side of the postcard only. Students from Kerala should post the competition postcard to P.O. Box No. 5425, Vikas Bhavan P.O., Thiruvnanathapuram-33. The last date for the competition is October 30. The participant’s particulars like name, age, class, school, date of writing and address should be written in the left hand blank part of the address portion of the competition postcard.

Winners of the competition will take home prizes ranging from laptop, handycam, digital cameras, iPods, encyclopaedia sets, synthesizer and music system.
