HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Wednesday picked a top-heavy team for the Chief Minister’s Office which was depleted after the death of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy last month.

He has inducted three more Principal Secretaries, who will work in the CMO in addition to Mr. Jannat Hussain, and a Secretary. YSR’s team comprised two Principal Secretaries, a Special Secretary, a Secretary and an Additional Secretary, among others. While P. Subramanyam, a Principal Secretary, was killed in the helicopter crash along with YSR, M.G.V.K. Bhanu. Special Secretary, was repatriated to his parent cadre, Assam-Meghalaya, on Tuesday.

Mr. Rosaiah took on board Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration, C.V.S.K. Sarma, Principal Secretary, Rural Development, K. Raju, Commissioner of Disaster Management Dinesh Kumar, an officer of Principal Secretary rank, and Metropolitan Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) K.S. Jawahar Reddy.

Mr. Jannat Hussain will continue to head the enlarged team. Mr. Madireddy Pratap, an IPS officer who was serving as Additional Secretary, has been transferred and posted as the Chief Executive Officer of APinvest.

It is understood that Mr. Sarma will handle the subjects of irrigation and municipal administration, areas in which he has considerable experience, while Mr. Raju will look after welfare, a subject that has been growing in importance.

Mr. Dinesh Kumar will advise the Chief Minister on Finance, Infrastructure and Revenue related matters.

In choosing his team, Mr. Rosaiah has taken care not to disturb the equations that weighed with YSR in making these key appointments and avoid attracting criticism from loyalists of the departed Chief Minister.
