BJP blames State

Staff Reporter

SRISAILAM: A BJP delegation led by party’s State president Bandaru Dattatreya visited the flood-ravaged Srisailam right bank power plant here on Tuesday. They also visited the left bank power plant.

Speaking to mediapersons after interacting with power plant and reservoir officials during the visit, Mr. Dattatreya, MLA M. Kishan Reddy and others alleged that the flooding of the power plant and the flood havoc in Kurnool, Alampur and Rajoli was the result of human failure in managing the flood.

They felt negligence of the State government and the Irrigation Department officials stood exposed in the damage.

They alleged that the government had overlooked the flood warnings of the Central Water Commission given in advance and failed to release water from Srisailam to Nagarjunasagar in advance so that Srisailam could have sustained the inflow for much more time.

The BJP leaders sought a white paper on the issue from the government.

Memorandum

The BJP leaders said they would also submit a memorandum to the Governor on the human failure in controlling floods.
