BANGALORE: Sir MVIT and MSRIT recorded emphatic victories to move into the league phase of the 12th Dr M.S. Ramaiah memorial Invitation Inter Engineering College cricket tournament. While Sir MVIT scored a six-wickets win over Sapthagiri College of Engineering, host MSRIT downed KNSIT by a whopping 177 runs. At the HMT grounds, Nishanth Hegde for the second successive day hit a brilliant century. His 133 (12x4, 5x6) and a 147-run fourth-wicket stand with captain Tejus A. Wagle (59, 2x4, 2x6) powered MSRIT to a big total after having been reduced to 39 for three, early on. Abhijit’s breezy 42 (7x4) helped Sir MVIT to overhaul the target of 148 set by Sapthagiri College of Engineering. The scores: MSRIT 247 for four in 30 overs (Nishanth Hegde 133, Tejus Wagle 59) bt KNSIT 70 in 21.4 overs. Sapathagiri College of Engg. 147 for nine in 30 overs (Vikram Naik 62) lost to Sir MVIT 151 for four in 27.3 overs (Abhijit 42, Abhishek 32, Santosh n.o 27). Dipendra’s good knockA good knock by Dipendra (84) helped Vivekananda School beat Frank Anthony Public School by 29 runs in the Cottonian Shield (under-14) T20 cricket tournament here on Wednesday. The scores: Vivekananda School 138 for seven in 15 overs (Dipendra 84) bt Frank Anthony Public School 109 for seven in 15 overs (Rishab 32, Desmond 32). 3-wicket winCity Cricketers (Mandya) scored its second successive win in the league phase by registering a three-wicket win over CPCP, Mysore in its Group ’A’ league tie in the Sri Gopalaswami Memorial tournament played at the Railway Workshop grounds, Mysore, on Wednesday. The scores: CPCP, Mysore 147 in 35.3 overs ( H.N. Rithesh 41, N. Manu four for 36, Hemanth four for 32) lost to City Cricketers (Mandya) 149 for seven in 33.3 overs (Duke Kaveri 43, Karthik Reddy three for 24, Rajesh Siddu three for 18).
