Anantapur: Well into a fortnight, after flood lashed Kurnool district, relief operations are still on in Anantapur district. Immediately after Kurnool was submerged, tonnes of food material, clothing, medicines and finanicial help were rushed from here to the neighbouring district. Voluntary agencies and common people have responded with magnanimity and humanity. Besides sanitary workers, technicians, electricians and volunteers in thousands fanned out into the affected areas of the beleaguered district . Joint Collector R.Anitha told The Hindu that for every five persons engaged in relief work, four persons turned out to be from Anantapur district. Ms. Anitha stated that hundreds of volunteers and nearly 1,500 sanitary workers had laboured for 10 days in 21 corporation wards in the city of Kurnool. She was deeply moved to see even the rich and middle classes standing in queue for a morsel of rice. She added that a latest government order has facilitated supply of relief material to all sections of flood victims. She observed that Anantapur district set a sterling example of humanity. A 100-member team of AWAY from Wildness and Yeastiness (AWAY) under the leadership of founder-director V.
