Boat tragedy: two remanded

KATTAPPANA: The Chennai-based Vignesh Marine Technical Services company’s technical director N.Giri and senior surveyor of the Indian Registrar of Ships (IRS) K. K. Sanjiv, who were arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the Thekkady boat tragedy, were produced before the Peerumade court on Thursday which remanded them till October 28.They were arrested on Wednesday night by the Crime branch, which summoned them to Thekkady where a joint probe by the Crime Branch, forensic team and shipping technology experts regarding the cause of the accident was going on. The arrests were registered by 9 p.m.

With this, the number of persons arrested in connection with the boat tragedy rose to six.
