Lucknow: Major rivers in Uttar Pradesh have started receding, even as some areas continued to remain flooded, official sources said here. While Ganga is receding in Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Ballia, river Gomti has started receding in Lucknow and Sitapur, Central Water Commission report said. However, Gomti continues to rise in Jaunpur and Sultanpur, it said. Similarly, except Katarnia Ghat (Bahraich), Ghagra was receding in Ayodhya, Barabanki and Turtipar (Ballia), it said.
