Film industry collects funds for flood victims

Good response to padayatra as actors pass the hat around


BANGALORE: The padayatra organised by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to collect funds for flood relief operations in Karnataka met with tremendous response here on Friday.

Puneet Rajkumar, Tara, Ramya (Divya), Shivrajkumar, Duniya Vijay and senior artistes such as Jayamala, Jayanthi, Doddanna and actor-turned-politician Ambareesh were the crowd pullers. Fans thronged the streets as they travelled from Forum Mall in Koramanagala to Marathahalli and donated generously. The padayatra did the rounds of Fourth Block, Koramangala, and the bylanes in and around Seventh Block of the area.

Auto and taxi drivers and small shopkeepers chipped in even as the younger stars bounded into shops and buses urging the public to make donations.

Puneet Rajkumar said: “The cinema field is always is concerned about the people and we hope this contribution will bring some help to flood victims.”

President of Producers’ Association K.C.N. Chandrasekhar said that the donation was a mark of solidarity with the victims.Former MP and actor Ambareesh requested the film fraternity to contribute generously towards the cause.
