‘A good Diwali gift, I hope’

Bangalore: Ross Taylor is busy topping the popularity charts at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

His quick-fire 65 that helped Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets in the Champions League game here on Saturday night has further improved his stature.

“In New Zealand, cricket is a small game and you don’t have much support, but here it’s amazing and you feel at home. I hope we have presented them (fans) a good Diwali gift,” Taylor said here late on Saturday night.

“We are disappointed that we are not making it to the next stage. The format of the tournament is such that you lose one game and you are out of it. Hopefully, we will regroup next time and do better,” Taylor added besides praising spinners captain Anil Kumble and Roelof van der Merwe for the manner in which they restricted Daredevils.

Meanwhile Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir admitted that Taylor, Kumble and van der Merwe proved to be the difference between the two teams.
