HYDERABAD: The maximum speed limit on the P.V. Expressway, which will be thrown open for airport bound vehicular traffic on Monday, is 60 km/hour for light motor vehicles. As the carriageway of the expressway narrows down from two lanes (7.5 metres width) to one-and-half lane (6 metres width) at Laxminagar, Upparpally and Shivrampally, the maximum speed at these turnings has been restricted to 40 km/hour. Overtaking at these narrow carriageways along with parking on the flyover has been strictly prohibited, said City Police Commissioner B. Prasada Rao here on Sunday. Entry for cyclists, two and three-wheelers, three and four-wheeled seven seaters, pushcarts and bullock carts are prohibited on the flyover. All the goods vehicles, including light, medium and heavy vehicles, will also be not allowed. The restrictions come into force from October 19, Mr. Rao said. He suggested drivers to take note of the sign boards installed on the flyover with regard to the speed limits, curves, narrow gaps and other safety aspects. Cyberabad Police Commissioner S. Prabhakar Reddy said gaps between the medians are provided at Laxminagar, Hyderguda and Shivarampally to handle emergency situations. In case of accidents or emergency assistance, commuters can dial 100 or police officials numbers displayed on separate boards put up along with sign boards.
