HYDERABAD: The Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), Osmania University, has been awarded the e-content development project for production of programmes in the discipline of economics by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Under this prestigious project, which is a part of MHRD’s Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technologies, EMMRC will get Rs. 1.5 crore for the e-content production, according to Jagadeeshwara Rao, Director, EMMRC, OU, He said EMMRC has been sanctioned Rs. 6.10 crore for XIth Plan by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and this is a substantive increase compared to the allocation of Rs. 2.43 crores during X Plan. EMMRC is the Regional Resource Centre for Andhra Pradesh in production of educational media by UGC. Dr. Rao said the Centre has also taken up research in Andhra Pradesh on “National Viewership Study on UGC/CEC Vyas Higher Educational Channel Telecast through Cable & Satellite and Doordarshan’s DTH” under the auspices of Consortium for Educational Communication, New Delhi. Established in 1983 EMMRC OU has gained high visibility and national recognition through production of quality educational video and e-content programmes to the tune of over 1000 in various disciplines.
