Schools join in flood relief effort

HYDERABAD: St.Martin’s High School collected and donated Rs.1.25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund towards flood relief.

The school also collected food-grains and other provisions worth Rs. 2 lakh and sent teams of teachers to Kurnool and Guntur for the distribution and other help.

Everybody from the school, inclusive of Class-IV workers, contributed to this endeavour, a press note informed. Qutbullahpur mandal president Hanumanth Reddy and the school’s president Laxman Reddy flagged off the trucks containing the provisions to the districts, a press note from the school said.

St.Anthony’s High School

St.Anthony’s High School donated Rs.36,000 for the flood relief, with contributions from students, teachers, parents and management. The cheque was given to Qutbullahpur Mandal School Correspondents Association, which collected about Rs. 6 lakh towards this end.

The association also purchased and donated essential commodities such as rice, oil, chilly powder, blankets, mats, buckets and so on, in G.Singavaram village of Kurnool, which was very badly affected.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir

Vasanthy Parasuraman, the Principal of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kondapur has been given the ‘Best Principal Award’ by the Maharishi Vidya Mandir group of schools in India.

Mohan Agarwal, Minister for Education and Culture, Chattisgarh, gave away the award at a function held on October 11, a press note informed.

In another press release, Maharishi Vidya Mandir informed about the distribution of food, drinking water, clothes and money among the flood victims by the school.

Vignan Vidyalayam High School

Vignan Vidyalayam High School, Nizampet donated Rs.30,000 for the flood relief effort by the Vignan University which adopted a village in Bhattiprolu mandal of Guntur District.

Items such as food grains, clothes, warm kits, buckets and oil were also sent.

Staff from the school contributed one day’s salary.
