Volleyball tournament in Shimoga from November 16

SHIMOGA: The 32nd National Sub-Junior Volleyball Tournament will be held for seven days at the Nehru Stadium here from November 16 under the joint auspices of the District Volleyball Association, District Sports Club and the district administration. Giving details about the tournament here on Tuesday, secretary of the District Sports Committee and vice-president of the State Athletic Association K.P. Purushottam said that 30 boys’ teams and 30 girls’ teams from all over the country would participate in the tournament.

He said that four courts were being prepared for flood-lit matches and two courts for matches to be held during daytime.

Mr. Purushottam said that 900 players and nearly 200 officials would participate in the tournament.

The former Shimoga MP Ayanur Manjunath spoke.
