THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Power electronics is developing in leaps and bounds and is bound to play a key role in future too, A.K. Chathopadyaya, Emeritus Professor, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has said. Inaugurating a two-day national workshop on power electronics technology organised by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and the National Mission on Power Electronics Technology (NaMPET) here on Thursday, Mr. Chathopadyaya said that power electronics had come of age and had celebrated its golden jubilee last year. Though power electronics does not have a visible presence or glamour like micro electronics, it has a prime role and will emerge more significant in future. Senior director of CDAC K.A. Fathima welcomed the gathering. T.K. Sarkar, senior director of the Department of Information Technology gave an overview of NaMPET. CDAC Director-General Rajan T. Joseph presided. R. Sudeep Kumar, coordinator of the workshop, proposed a vote of thanks.
